There is a writer in you
Have you ever thought about writing your own book? Have you created your characters and thought of splendid scenes to incorporate them into it? I can answer yes to both!
Almost everyone I know has mentioned that someday, they would pursue writing a book but not many actually end up writing one. There’s a story in all of us. Whether it be a personal one, telling someone else’s or be the creator of the next Harry Potter series.
It’s been almost a year that I have been thinking about writing my own fictional story until a few months ago. I walked into a bookstore in Cape Town, looking for anything my eye could catch and I came across a book called ‘You’ve got a book in you’ by Elizabeth Sims.
Yes, it’s a book about writing a book!
I bought the book anyway because that little voice inside my head just told me ‘this is it, now is the time’. I have always procrastinated the idea of starting to write because I didn’t know where to begin, what to write about and who I wanted to write to. Reading this book, began to open my eyes to simple facts that I knew all along but needed someone else to tell me in black and white.
Elizabeth simply has a way of creating ease and confidence that allows the writer in you to creep out from behind the shadows. She embraces you with fantastic tips like garrets and storm thinking that lead you from one step to the next. These tips also direct you onto activities which create realizations of what you can physically accomplish!
She is a motivating and an inspiring individual that gives you the truth as it is. Who cares if no one decides to read it or what anyone may think for that matter! She teaches you about being heroic because completing your very first book is the utmost feeling anyone can achieve. It is a heroic act, one that teaches you about patience and persistence. Most of all, she teaches you how to have fun! To be able to enjoy what you do and never let it become anything but pure enjoyment.
