Cape Town 2016
Travelling has always ignited the most powerful sense of creativity when stumbling upon exquisite landmarks across the globe. This particular one happened to be Signal Hill in Cape Town South Africa.
There’s something about that fresh green air that whisks you into an aromatic sensation of absolute bliss. The long dirt paths that are stretched out as far as the eye can see. Secured along the path, rests delicate bundles of floras that light up your way with their sparkling colours and fantastic fragrances.
The most captivating part is the combination created on this very site. It is a combination of fresh land, the open Atlantic Ocean before your eyes and a peak of the cities silhouette making its way across the coast line. Your sight cannot consume all the beauties that wrap around you. On your left hand side, sits the majestic Table Mountain and in front of you, the fierce Lion Head. Like walking through an art gallery, there is art around every corner, above and below you. There is a flavour for every kind of person and there is a moment created among all kinds of people.
Romance too has a place of remembrance at this location. Couples from around the world leave their symbol of love along the rails by carving their names onto the wood or placing a lock around the wire. Stories are made and memories are crafted.
Take your time, make your way along the path, capture every speckle dazzled in your surrounding from the Daisy’s to the purple lavender. Breathe in that light air that’s fused with both ocean and land.
It’s a landmark of absolute relaxation where loved ones, friends and partners can gather all round. People from various countries around the world make their way to this very location to watch the start of a breathtaking sunset from around 5pm until the luminous lights come alive after 6:45pm.
Take a bottle of red wine, crackers, delicate cheeses and any other flavours to set your mood to the right temperature for departure of the sunset experience.
A green mat is perfectly placed along the hill for gatherers to lay and allow for the show to ferry them away. As the sunset begins to transform the skies before us, the piercing light gently molds its way out and into the perfect pastel tones around that flaming ball of fire. Soft hair-like brushes gradually create strokes, overlapping the bright light and creating colours of pinks, purples, soft blues and hints of yellow.
As the sun sets across the horizon, the wind calms and the water rests, subtly kissing the light away until a new day comes about and the engagement is once more recreated.
